May ushered in a beautiful day for our kick-off First Fridays! Foggy Moonlight, local Farmville band, performed classic rock hits, while everyone enjoyed beer on tap. Mark your calendars for June 7th and Los Carleenos!

FARMVILLE - First Fridays will turn back the calendar Friday, making its 2012 debut on the second Friday of the month before resuming the "first Friday" dates for June, July, August and September.
Turn back the calendar, yes, but there will be no turning back the fun.
The Farmville Jaycees are kicking off their flagship event, First Fridays at Riverside Park, with the Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band, Bars To Beaches, from Richmond, with the fun getting started at 5:30 p.m.
Get ready to find that lost shaker of salt.
The Farmville Volunteer Fire Department will even be grilling up "Cheeseburgers In Paradise" in addition to other notable good eats.
The free summer concert series at the park in downtown Farmville features live music, games and entertainment for children and families, with hot meals prepared by local nonprofits and fire departments, and draft beer provided by Blue Ridge Beverage.
The Farmville Jaycees have worked hard this year to provide a wide range of regional and local bands and hope to offer a strong variety of meal options. "First Fridays will be fun-filled evenings for the whole family. Plan to come for dinner then stay for music and fellowship down by the river," said a Farmville Jaycees spokesperson.
The Farmville Jaycees invite active young citizens, ages 18 to 40, to join their membership meetings held at Charley's Waterfront Café at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month.
The Farmville Jaycees are a local chapter of The United States Junior Chamber, a membership-based nonprofit organization that exists to bring energy and insight to solving problems locally and around the world.
"Jaycees come from all walks of life, but they have important character traits in common: passion for making a difference, interest in being part of something bigger than themselves, and a desire to grow and expand their horizons by being active in the community," the local organization's spokesperson said.
